Professional:
Esther leads the Shrub Oak team, including DSPs, supervisors, and the programming team. She has been working with youth in residential and special education institutions for over thirty years across the United Kingdom and in New York, where she has won a number of distinguished awards, and she brings her extensive experience to Shrub Oak.
Esther started her career by working in various youth centers in the United Kingdom. After arriving in New York in 1998, she worked in public schools and special education programs before beginning at Shrub Oak as a DSP when the school opened in 2018. She then moved on to being Life Skills Coordinator and then Programming and Community Coordinator before becoming Director of Campus Life, where she headed all recreational and residential teams. Over the past four years, Esther built out Shrub Oak’s current after-school and weekend program, including recreational programming off-campus, on-campus, and with community partners.
In 2024, she transitioned into her new role as Recreation Manager, where she is focusing on expanding programming, introducing new community partners, creating more robust recreational offerings, and expanding activities for all students that align with their interests and goals.
Personal:
Originally from Liverpool, England, Esther loves to travel and spend time with her family. She is one of ten siblings and has two daughters with her husband. She loves the beach, trying new restaurants, and watching comedy movies. An avid athlete in her youth, she now enjoys watching Premier League football (soccer).
