At Shrub Oak International School, family involvement is an integral part of our programing. Our comprehensive family-involvement approach includes parent trainings, parent support groups, a parent liaison department providing families with a dedicated staff contact, and an online parent portal. The Parent Liaison Department at Shrub Oak serves as the primary point of contact for families, ensuring seamless communication and support throughout their child’s educational journey. Our dedicated parent liaisons work closely with families to address concerns, provide updates, and facilitate collaboration between parents and the school’s multidisciplinary team.  

Our parent portal is a secure online platform where families can access important information, track their child’s progress, and stay informed about school events and announcements. Parent training sessions are designed to equip parents with the skills and knowledge necessary to support their children’s development at home. We also offer parent support groups that serve as a platform for parents to share their experiences, challenges, and successes.  

At Shrub Oak, we understand that our students exist within a family system, and we enroll the whole family. As family and caregivers are an integral part of the process, we have diverse ways to encourage and support family/caregiver involvement and visits. All families work with a talented transdisciplinary team to develop the family involvement plan that works best for their family. For those living in states far away as well as those in close proximity, regular, virtual visits are an integral part of the family plan, along with in-person visits both on and off campus. Families are encouraged to attend events such as open house events, student showcases, and graduation along with less formal visits throughout the year. Families are diverse, and our approach to encouraging, collaborating, and supporting them is as diverse as they are! We welcome families to be a part of the Shrub Oak Family.
