PROFESSIONAL: 

Rachel is a licensed clinical therapist and certified school social worker with over a decade of experience dedicated to working with children, adolescents, and families. Her extensive background spans various mental health settings, including school and day treatment programs, inpatient hospitals, and residential treatment facilities. Rachel’s clinical expertise encompasses working with clients to address a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management, trauma, mood disorders, major life changes, family conflict, and school-related problems. 

In her previous therapeutic roles, Rachel has employed a diverse set of approaches including relational therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other psychoanalytic modalities. Currently, Rachel contributes her skills and experience at Shrub Oak while also managing a private practice where she specializes in working with children and young adolescents. 

Rachel earned her master’s degree in social work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, with a focus on children, youth, and families. 

At Shrub Oak, Rachel began her role as the Director of Admissions in 2021, where her responsibilities include: reviewing documents and conducting interviews with prospective students, guiding tours for potential families and industry professionals, traveling to therapeutic conferences across the country, and networking with referring professionals. She also plays a key role in coordinating the students’ move-in days. 

PERSONAL: 

Outside of her professional life, Rachel embraces a variety of interests and activities. She has a deep love for traveling, cooking, and exploring the great outdoors through hiking. Staying active is a key part of her routine, and she enjoys working out regularly. Rachel also has a passion for live music and enjoys attending concerts. Family and friends hold a special place in Rachel’s heart, and she makes time to enjoy their company. At home, she is accompanied by her dog, Remy, whom she rescued in 2020. Rachel is a dedicated advocate for animal welfare and passionate about helping other shelter dogs find loving, new homes.
