Spooky Festivities for Halloween at Shrub Oak International School

This Halloween week, Shrub Oak International School is buzzing with excitement as we host a series of engaging and festive activities for our students. The fun kicked off on October 24th with a “Pumpkin Head Photoshoot” organized by the Photography Club. Students had the opportunity to get creative outside the Life Skills House, posing with pumpkin masks in a variety of fun, autumnal scenes. This event allowed them to express themselves while building their confidence and social skills.

The excitement continues on October 31st with a full day of Halloween celebrations across campus. Our door decoration contest has students, faculty, and staff transforming the school’s hallways into a haunted display of creative door designs. Each classroom and office door has a unique theme, encouraging teamwork and sparking inspiration as everyone decorate their spaces with spooky, imaginative designs.

Throughout Halloween day, our students will enjoy a range of activities, from a festive photo booth to hayrides around campus. The photo booth will be set up with a Halloween theme, allowing students to capture the holiday spirit with costumes and fun props. The hayrides offer students a sensory-friendly experience of fall, providing a peaceful yet festive journey through the school’s grounds.

Pumpkin painting is another highlight of the day, where students can design their own jack-o’-lanterns or decorate pumpkins in a way that reflects their personality. This activity promotes creativity while providing a hands-on experience that helps students develop their fine motor skills.

One of the main attractions of the day will be our Haunted Life Skills House. This specially designed space will provide students with an age-appropriate haunted experience, combining spooky decorations with sensory elements for a fun, not too spooky Halloween scare. Each room has been carefully arranged to ensure an enjoyable experience for all, taking into consideration the sensory needs and preferences of our students.

The festivities conclude with a Halloween Dance Party in the Hub, where students and staff come together to celebrate the end of the day with music, games, and treats. This inclusive party allows everyone to unwind, socialize, and enjoy the Halloween spirit. From costumes to candy, it’s a chance for our community to come together and make lasting memories.

Through each of these activities, we aim to create a safe, enjoyable Halloween experience that aligns with Shrub Oak’s commitment to fostering creativity, social engagement, and self-expression. We’re excited to provide our students with a holiday celebration that is tailored to their needs and interests, making Halloween a special time for all.
